Summary: High schooler Aza Holmes experiences severe anxiety, including OCD and hypochondria. This fiction book also follows the news story of a famous millionaire who has gone missing. Of course, Aza went to summer camp with the millionaire’s son way back when, and they develop an interesting fling. Throughout it all, I especially appreciated the best friend character and how she reacts to Aza’s mental illness.
Takeaways: Overall, a wonderfully realistic and raw teenage drama. I commend the author for the way he explains Aza’s thought process. Through metaphors and text annotation, he expresses the two voices in her head constantly going back in forth. Although I’m a pretty slow reader, I finished this young adult novel in two days.
